Pension in case of losing a breadwinner: who can get it and what order of action
In Ukraine, relatives can issue a pension in the event of a breadwinner’s loss, which is supported for families who have lost their primary source of financial security.
This opportunity applies only to disabled family members, according to the Pension Fund of Ukraine.
Wives, husbands, parents, children under 8 years, as well as older children who have become disabled at this age, have the right to receive such a pension. Students and full-time students up to 23 years of age are also eligible to receive the necessary support.
The pension is assigned from the day after the breadwinner’s death. If a family member has already reached retirement age and has an insurance policy, they will receive lifelong payments.
To receive a pension, a relative must be recognized as disabled. If, however, a person who has already lost the pension has lost a breadwinner, they can go on payments on the loss of a breadwinner.
The amount of pension depends on the number of dependents:
One person will receive 50% of the age of the deceased;
Two or more persons receive 100% of the amount divided among all.
But there are also minimal guarantees:
One person will not have less than 100% of the subsistence minimum;
two persons – 120%;
Three persons and more – 150% of this indicator.
The pension is paid monthly and can provide significant support for a family that has lost a loved one. If you or your loved ones are eligible, you should not delay the design.
It is now reported that pensioners will be required to make additional payments and may be eligible to receive two pensions simultaneously. Read more details in the news about raising pension payments.
