Russian drone attack on the Dnieper: explosions, fires and casualties

On the night of July 16-17, Russian troops attacked the city of Dnipro using suicide drones, causing a series of explosions and destruction. According to preliminary data, one person was killed and five were wounded as a result of the shelling.

The head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, Serhiy Lysak, reported these events.

Among the injured are men aged 35, 37, 40, and 52, who received medical assistance. Three of them are in critical condition, and the 70-year-old victim received minor injuries and is being treated at home.

“Several fires broke out in the city, and industrial facilities were damaged,” Lysak added.

Explosions also occurred in the Dnipro district, specifically in the territories of the Solonyanska and Slobozhanska communities, where an outbuilding and a greenhouse were destroyed.

Attacks on other regions

On the same night, Russian forces also launched strikes on other regions of Ukraine.

An airstrike in Kramatorsk, Donetsk region, damaged energy infrastructure, leaving part of the city and nearby settlements without electricity.

A large-scale fire broke out in the city market in Chernihiv, destroying pavilions and the roof of a meat department. The State Emergency Service reported that 14 pieces of equipment and 53 rescuers arrived at the scene and quickly contained the fire, with no casualties. The cause of the fire is being determined.

Air raids were also heard in Sumy, Poltava, Kharkiv, Donetsk, and Zaporizhia regions. A threat of hostile action was reported in many areas, but no casualties were reported.

The local administration has again urged the community to exercise caution, not to ignore air raid signals, and to remain in shelters until they receive confirmation that the fire has been fully extinguished.

Earlier, on July 16, the enemy also carried out an airstrike on Dobropilly, which damaged a store during the evening rush hour.
