In the Dnipropetrovsk region, large frauds with budgetary funds and drug crime have been found – there are suspicion of 29 people

In the Dnipropetrovsk region, prosecutors, together with law enforcement agencies, have suspected 29 persons of several crimes that include theft of public funds, abuse of office, fraud, illegal deforestation, drug crime, and environmental pollution. The total losses caused to the state and communities are estimated at almost 30 million hryvnias.

The Prosecutor General’s Office reported this information.

Facts of theft of budgetary funds

Among the accused are employees of the Dniprovsk City Council and relevant departments, as well as representatives of commercial structures. In particular:

The deputy director of one of the departments has increased the cost of electricity purchased for educational institutions by UAH 7.5 million.
The Head of the Department of Public Works, together with contractors, increased the costs of repair work for more than 1.5 million hryvnias.
Ukrzaliznytsia staff and contractors have created a scheme to steal land ownership, resulting in over UAH 1.7 million in losses.
The director of the enterprise and the engineer received UAH 2.4 million as a result of the purchase of electricity through additional agreements.
The former accountant of the utility has appropriated more than UAH 4.8 million, forging documents.
The purchase of solar panels for the kindergarten resulted in losses of 350,000 hryvnias, and the overhaul of the school’s roof incurred an additional 270,000 hryvnias.
Schemes of fraud with real estate

The notary’s assistant, together with the state registrar and several other individuals, organized the illegal re-registration of seven real estate objects for outsiders, resulting in substantial losses to the state of UAH 1.1 million.

Environmental disorders

The Acting Director of the Forests Branch of Ukraine has permitted the illegal felling of trees in the landscape reserve “Bridge”, resulting in damage of UAH 6.9 million.
The head of production at one agricultural enterprise and the deputy director of another polluted the atmosphere, resulting in losses exceeding UAH 2.9 million.
The utility engineer discharged contaminated wastewater, resulting in losses of 160,000 hryvnias.
Narcotics

A group of four people organized the sale of metamfetamine and methadone “Bookmarks” in Kamiansky.
Three inhabitants of Kryvyi Rih grew hemp and sold cannabis.
Another group of four per month has produced and sold up to 15 kg of amphetamine over the Internet in Kryvyi Rih.
All of the above led to the charges in accordance with Articles 190, 191, 241, 242, 307, 310, 358, 362, 366, and 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Some of the suspects have already chosen preventive measures, and the investigation is ongoing.
