Arseniy Bohar and his “golden” declaration: how the Transcarpathian deputy hid over 8 million
In Transcarpathia, law enforcement officers discovered a district council deputy who, according to the investigation, had been hiding his true assets for a long time. While his declaration contained only modest income, in reality, the official used expensive cars and owned luxurious housing.
41-year-old Arseny Bohar, a deputy of the Beregov district council from the Servant of the People party, is suspected of knowingly submitting false information to an electronic declaration and legalizing property, probably obtained by criminal means. According to the investigation, undeclared assets exceed 8.3 million hryvnias.
In the 2022 declaration, Bohar deliberately did not disclose part of his property and financial income, including a 2017 Ford Mustang he owned jointly with his wife, and income that did not correspond to his declared standard of living.
The investigation also drew attention to the 2020 Mercedes-Benz S-Class, which was purchased in October 2022 for 3.75 million hryvnias. However, Bogar’s total confirmed income over more than 20 years of work amounted to only 227 thousand hryvnias. After the purchase, the car was quickly resold, and the funds received, according to law enforcement officers, were used for personal expenses, and this financial activity was not reflected in the declaration.
Law enforcement officers noted that the deputy’s official income could not explain his luxurious lifestyle. Therefore, Bogar’s actions fall under Articles 190 and 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine on the dissemination of false information and the legalization of property obtained by crime.
According to open sources, Arseniy Bogar is a co-owner of LLC “Sevlyush Univer” and the head of the charitable fund of the Roma community of the Vynohradiv district. He positions himself as a human rights defender of the Roma community and worked as an advisor on their integration during the 2020 local elections.
The investigation is being conducted by the National Police of the Transcarpathian region, under the supervision of the regional prosecutor’s office, and the Strategic Investigations Department provides operational support.
