Former education department official sentenced to 7 years for illegal payments

The former head of the Department of Education of the Dnipro Regional State Administration in Kyiv was sentenced to 7 years in prison. The court also decided to confiscate her property.

She was found guilty of embezzlement of budget funds in the performance of her official duties, as reported by the prosecutor’s office.

It was established that the offenses took place in 2023 in connection with the purchase of equipment for school shelters.

Significant overpayments were identified during the tender procedures. In particular, more than 460 thousand UAH were overpaid for vegetable cutters.

In addition, almost 1.35 million UAH more was spent on the purchase of chairs than necessary. The prosecutor’s office emphasizes that these actions caused significant losses to the budget.

Law enforcement officers collected sufficient evidence of the official’s involvement in the crime, after which the case materials were transferred to the court.

The court, having considered the case, found her guilty and sentenced her to 7 years in prison, as well as confiscation of property.

The verdict can be appealed in accordance with the procedure established by law.
