What weather conditions await weather-dependent Ukrainians on May 27
A weak magnetic storm is expected on May 27 on Earth. After a period of increased solar activity, the geomagnetic background will stabilize, and the K-index will be 2.67, which corresponds to the “green” level. However, weather-sensitive people may still feel changes in their well-being.
According to the Meteoagent portal, no powerful geomagnetic disturbances are predicted for May 27. Following peaks in activity last week, when storms reached the highest level, the situation has now stabilized.
The decrease in solar activity began on May 22. In recent days, storms have not exceeded the “yellow” level. The current K-index of 2.67 indicates that there are no serious technical or biological consequences.
Impact on people
Magnetic storms can have an impact on health even with weak geomagnetic activity. The most sensitive are:
People who depend on weather conditions;
pregnant women;
people with chronic diseases;
older people and children.
Typical symptoms include headache, drowsiness or insomnia, changes in blood pressure, decreased concentration, and irritability.
Recommendations for improving well-being
Doctors advise following several rules on such days:
get enough sleep (at least 7–9 hours; it is advisable to go to bed by 11:00 p.m.);
drink more water;
avoid stressful situations, conflicts, and emotional overload;
reduce the consumption of coffee, alcohol, and heavy food;
spend more time outdoors;
limit the use of gadgets in the hours before bedtime;
For people with chronic diseases, controlling your blood pressure and avoiding excessive physical exertion is essential.
What is a magnetic storm?
A magnetic storm is a change in the Earth’s magnetic field caused by solar flares. They can affect not only human health but also the operation of electronic devices, GPS navigation, satellite, and communication systems.
You can monitor magnetic activity using the K-index:
0–3 – calm level (green);
4 – moderate (yellow);
5 and above – powerful magnetic storms (red/orange level).
It was previously reported that magnetic storms can affect atmospheric pressure, causing headaches, fatigue, or emotional exhaustion in some people.
