Even a day matters: new rules for calculating additional payments for pensioners
For Ukrainian pensioners who have reached a respectable age, special payments known as compensatory supplements have been established. However, few people realize that these amounts can be transferred not from the beginning of the month but from a specific date of birth, which may affect their quantity.
Expert Serhiy Korobkin noted that, for example, a government supplement of 570 hryvnias for people who have reached the age of 80 will be accrued from the moment of their birthday celebration. If this day falls in the middle of the month, the pensioner will receive a proportionally smaller part, depending on the number of days after the date of birth.
This system of supplements has been in operation since April 2020 for pensioners who have reached the ages of 70, 75, and 80, taking into account specific accrual programs. For example, for people aged 70, the supplement is approximately 300 hryvnias. At the same time, the amount of the supplement may vary depending on the availability of other social benefits and the size of the basic pension.
It is worth noting that not all pensioners are entitled to such additional payments. The payments apply only to those whose pension does not exceed the established limits. If the pension is higher, then further payments may not be accrued.
We also note that starting in 2025, the requirements for work experience will change. To retire at 60, you will need to have at least 32 years of experience. Those who have not accumulated the required experience will be required to work until 63 or even 65, depending on the number of years they have collected.
We remind you that additional payments will also be accrued for pensioners. Find out who is included in the list and how to register for retirement if you are unemployed. In addition, the increase in pensions is insufficient to meet basic needs.
