Two female premieres: a doctor and a singer discuss war, memory and tenderness
Two Ukrainian singers, Khrystyna Vinnytska and Iryna Shegeda, presented their new songs, which are filled with sincerity and emotion. Their compositions are dedicated to the themes of love, memory, and resilience in times of difficulty.
Khrystyna Vinnytska presented the song “Blue Ribbon.”
For Khrystyna Vinnytska, music has a deeper meaning than just a career. As a cardiologist, she combines her professional path with inspiration drawn from her own experience, losses, and love. Her new work, “Blue Ribbon,” is an emotional continuation of her previous song, “Stork.”
Her father wrote the lyrics to the composition, and the music was created by her constant partner, Bohdan Nestor. The clip for the song, shot by Volodymyr Shurubureu, tells the story of soldier Valentyn Osovsky, who lost his leg at the front, which adds special truthfulness.
The premiere of the clip took place on June 13, Khrystyna’s birthday, marking a new stage in her work—one that eschews a specific format yet remains frank and profound.
Iryna Shegeda presented the track “Don’t Forget Love.”
Iryna Shegeda’s debut composition, “Don’t Forget Love,” was also inspired by personal experiences. This is a tender and chamber song about memories that can suddenly return without any warning.
Poet Vitaliy Hutsul wrote the lyrics of the track, and the music was composed by Tetyana Piskareva. However, Iryna emphasizes that the emotional state itself is more important than the command: “This song was not planned as a hit. It is very personal – something that I want to give to the world without any filters.”
Iryna Shegeda is a young performer from Ivano-Frankivsk who grew up listening to the sounds of her mother’s lullabies and grandmother’s songs. Her style can be described as modern pop music with deep emotions, devoid of unnecessary pathos, which makes her songs genuine and moving.
