Not everyone can afford it: Ukrainians warned about a sharp increase in gasoline prices

Experts in Ukraine are concerned about the safety of shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, which may negatively affect gasoline prices in the country. Volodymyr Omelchenko, a representative of the Razumkov Center, provided this information.

He noted that the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East makes it difficult to ensure the safe transportation of oil through this waterway. Omelchenko stressed that if there are no severe attacks on ships in the Strait of Hormuz and tensions remain at the current level, the price of oil may stabilize at $ 75-80 per barrel, with minor fluctuations.

This factor will significantly affect fuel prices at Ukrainian gas stations. The expert already notices a tendency to increase prices, although the actual impulse from the world market has not yet reached Ukrainian suppliers.

At the same time, some networks are attempting to raise their prices in advance to generate additional profit. In this situation, the effectiveness of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine’s actions will be key to restraining prices. Omelchenko warned that without adequate regulation, the cost of gasoline in Ukraine could rise sharply to 65 hryvnias per liter of A-95 and, in some cases, even more.

Recently, several media outlets reported that Iran has probably already prepared military assets for possible attacks on American facilities in the event of direct US intervention in the conflict. US authorities do not rule out that Iran may carry out strikes with the help of allied groups, such as the Houthis or other armed groups operating in Syria and Iraq.

In addition, Iran has openly threatened to block the Strait of Hormuz using sea mines, which would make it difficult to neutralize them. Blocking this strait could lead to serious consequences not only for the military but also for commercial shipping, threatening global supplies of oil and gas.
