Financial problem instead of savings: water meters may result in a fine of UAH 15,000
Ukrainian citizens who have installed water meters in their apartments may face unpleasant financial consequences. Instead of the expected savings, they may face the threat of paying significant fines.
Experts from the municipal enterprise “Volodymyrvodokanal” explained for which violations fines can be imposed and how to avoid such situations.
The presence of a water meter is a step towards savings, as this device allows you to pay only for the water you use. However, some consumers try to bypass the system.
One such case involved an incident where a resident of one of the apartments installed a magnet on the water meter, resulting in a decrease in the water consumption meter reading or even its complete stoppage.
During the inspection, a violation was detected and recorded in a report, and the violator was issued a fine of 15,000 hryvnias.
In addition to financial sanctions, there is another problem. All residents of the house suffer from such actions. If discrepancies are found between the general building indicators and the sum of apartment readings, this difference will be distributed among all residents. Ultimately, everyone will have to pay for the fraud of one person.
Experts urged not to interfere with the operation of meters, not to use magnets, and not to try to deceive the system. After all, in the end, your scheme may be discovered, which will lead to huge fines instead of the expected savings.
Earlier, it was reported that fines may also be imposed for non-payment of utility services, and the situation was also considered when there is a possibility of confiscation of housing due to debt.
