Explosion and fire at chemical plant in Shebekino – likely caused by drone attack

A major fire broke out in Russia, likely as a result of a drone strike on a chemical plant. According to Telegram channels, explosions and secondary detonations have occurred in the region, and smoke can be seen from as far away as Belgorod.

A major fire was reported in Shebekino, Belgorod region, which broke out at a chemical plant after a drone hit. According to the Telegram channel “Dozhd,” the impact caused a large-scale fire, resulting in a thick column of smoke that rose above the plant, visible even from a distance of 25 kilometers.

Residents report loud explosions and secondary detonations. The fire has covered a large area and is spreading rapidly. The extent of the damage has not yet been determined.

According to preliminary data, the territory of one of the chemical plants in the Shebekino industrial zone was affected among the possible targets of the attack. The enterprise “Selena” is mentioned, which specializes in the production of chemical reagents containing flammable and hazardous components.

The Telegram channel “Go31 | Новости Белгорода” adds that bitumen oils and other flammable materials are on fire. Residents in the region heard a series of explosions and observed an increase in smoke that extended for tens of kilometers.

There is currently no official information from the authorities. The administration of the Belgorod region has not made any statements regarding the events in Shebekino.
