Baseboards collect dust better than shelves, but you don’t have to clean them on your knees.

Experts recommend using convenient cleaning methods that will save you effort. One simple option is a mop with a long or telescopic handle. Add a few drops of dishwashing liquid to a bucket of warm water, soak the mop, wring it out thoroughly, and gently wipe along the baseboards. Then, use a dry cloth to wipe. According to the president of Molly Maid, dishwashing liquid effectively removes dirt without damaging the surface.

For hard-to-reach places, such as decorative baseboards, a vacuum cleaner with a brush, melamine sponge, or microfiber cloth is suitable. You should not leave detergent residues on the baseboards, as they lead to the accumulation of a new layer of dust. The Dashing Maids expert emphasizes that it is essential to wipe everything thoroughly after wet cleaning.

To reduce the frequency of cleaning, it is recommended to wipe the baseboards weekly, especially if they are covered with glossy paint. To prevent dust from settling, you can use anti-static wipes. Cracks and scratches are best filled with putty, sanded, and then painted.

“Don’t wait until the baseboard is covered with gray dust,” advises the expert.

Regular cleaning is much easier than a general cleaning once a year.
