Pensioners are promised a small increase: 470 still need to be earned – not everyone will receive it
Pension reform in Ukraine is ongoing. As of 2025, individuals with at least 32 years of work experience will be eligible to retire at 60, according to the Pension Fund of Ukraine.
Those with experience ranging from 22 to 31 years will be eligible to retire at 63, while those with experience ranging from 15 to 21 years will be eligible to retire at 65. The amount of the pension is calculated individually, depending on the length of service and the official income from which contributions were paid.
Who receives a supplement for “extra” years of service
When retiring with a length of service exceeding the established norm, a supplement may be assigned. The accrual conditions vary depending on the date of pension registration:
For pensions issued after October 1, 2011, the supplement is calculated for each full year of insurance experience over 35 years for men and 30 years for women, in the amount of 1% of the basic pension.
For pensions assigned before October 1, 2011, the supplement is provided for each year of experience exceeding 25 years for men and 20 years for women.
However, it is essential to note that the maximum total supplement cannot exceed 1% of the minimum pension amount. In 2025, the minimum pension will be 2361 hryvnia, which means that the maximum supplement for each additional year will be 23.61 hryvnia.
Calculation example
For example, if a pensioner has 50 years of experience, which exceeds the norm by 20 years. In this case, the supplement will be 20 × 23.61 UAH = 472.2 UAH.
What else needs to be considered
The Pension Fund of Ukraine regularly provides clarifications on the calculation of pensions and supplements. The final amount of the pension is determined based on several factors, including the length of insurance experience, income, individual coefficient, and other parameters.
For individuals with a minimum of 10 years of experience, specialized assistance programs are available. However, their amounts will be significantly lower.
