Are Ukrainians allowed to purchase land in Poland: conditions and restrictions

After the outbreak of full-scale war, many Ukrainians found refuge in Poland, which highlights the importance of the issue of the possibility of purchasing land for Ukrainians in this country.

According to Polish law, Ukrainians are eligible to purchase land, but this is subject to specific conditions. Foreigners interested in purchasing a plot of land must obtain permission from both the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the relevant Polish administrative authorities. This applies to both individuals and legal entities that are not citizens of the European Union. Thus, Ukrainians also need to go through this procedure.

A simplified permit process is available to Ukrainians who hold EU resident status, as well as to individuals married to Polish citizens.

It is essential to note that a permit is only required for the purchase of land, such as agricultural or forest land. This permit is not required for the purchase of apartments or non-residential premises.
