Діти швидко впадають у транс: у TikTok стає популярним небезпечний челендж

Children quickly fall into a trance: a dangerous challenge is becoming popular on TikTok

A dangerous trend known as the Blackout challenge is actively spreading on TikTok. This activity involves deliberately limiting the oxygen supply to the brain to induce a rapid feeling of euphoria. Experts warn that such actions can lead to severe brain damage or even death in just a few minutes.

According to information from Bitdefender, a company specializing in cybersecurity issues, teenagers often perform this challenge alone or with the help of others, recording the process on video and posting it on TikTok. The platform’s algorithms, which push popular content, contribute to the rapid spread of such videos among users.

Experts explain that children are often exposed to such risks due to peer pressure, the desire to attract attention, or to imitate popular videos. Teenagers who actively use social networks and are looking for new challenges are at particular risk.

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has published signs that may indicate that a child has participated in such activities:

The presence of bruises or marks on the neck;
bloodshot eyes;
complaints of a severe headache;
Disorientation or a state of confusion that occurs after being alone.
Not so long ago, a tragic case occurred in the UK when a 12-year-old boy was found in his room with a sheet around his neck, which, according to his parents, could be related to performing the Blackout challenge. All attempts at resuscitation were unsuccessful.

The family of the deceased is appealing to other parents to be cautious and monitor their children’s online behavior. They are also calling on platforms to strengthen control over dangerous content. Police are investigating and checking the boy’s digital devices.

Internet safety experts advise discussing the risks of virtual challenges with children, utilizing parental controls, and promoting critical thinking about the content they consume online.
