Yaroslava Maguchikh shared first place with an American athlete at competitions in Belgium

Yaroslava Maguchykh triumphed at the Continental Tour stage in Liege, Belgium, clearing 1.91 m. This victory brought her to first place together with American athlete Hafnagel.

Olympic high jump champion Yaroslava Maguchykh won gold at the bronze stage of the Continental Tour, which attracted seven participants. Suspilne Sport published this information.

This performance was the third consecutive podium for Maguchykh this summer. Previously, she won two silver medals at the Diamond League stages, where she was second only to Australian Nikola Olislagers. Also in June, she won the European Team Championship, representing the Ukrainian national team.

In Liege, Yaroslava’s main competition was American Charity Hafnagel, ranked 16th in the world. The Ukrainian started the competition with a height of 1.91 m, which she cleared on her second attempt. She missed the height of 1.94 m, and she failed to clear the next height – 1.96 m – in three attempts.

Hafnagel also reached a result of 1.91 m, not using all her attempts at the next height, so both athletes shared first place. Third place was taken by the representative of the Czech Republic, Michaela Gruba, with a result of 1.86 m.

Interestingly, this victory was Yaroslava’s lowest medal result since June 2022, when she finished fifth at the Diamond League stage in Stockholm with a height of 1.89 m.

Maguchych also won gold at the 2025 European Team Championships, leaving behind athletes from Poland and Germany.
