Kyivteleservice official suspected of negligence: city lost over 50 million from budget
In Kyiv, an official who heads the tender committee of Kyivteleservice UPC has become a suspect in a case involving the purchase of equipment at inflated prices, resulting in budget losses exceeding 50 million hryvnias.
This was reported by the Darnytsia District Prosecutor’s Office of Kyiv. It was established that the official showed official negligence when organizing the purchase of network equipment to provide Internet communication.
In 2023, Kyivteleservice, a subsidiary of the Kyiv City State Administration’s Department of Information and Communication Technologies, entered into a contract with a private company for the supply and configuration of network equipment. The total amount of the deal was 172 million hryvnias.
The prosecutor’s office noted that the suspect did not conduct a proper valuation check of the equipment’s market value, which resulted in its cost being significantly overstated, leading to an overpayment of more than 50 million hryvnias.
Thus, the capital’s budget suffered significant losses. The suspect’s actions are classified under Part 2 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – official negligence, which led to grave consequences for state interests.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing and is being conducted by investigators of the Darnytsia Police Department in Kyiv.
