Prosecutor General Kravchenko: Investigation into fake disabilities of prosecutors was ignored for nine months
Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko expressed his disagreement with the process of investigating cases involving allegedly faked disabilities among Ukrainian prosecutors. He said this during a meeting of the Temporary Investigative Commission of the Verkhovna Rada, which investigates corruption offenses in law enforcement agencies.
Kravchenko noted that more than 70 prosecutors were sent for re-examination. The conclusions of the Ministry of Health medical institutions showed that in many cases, the disability was established without reasonable grounds. Some of these individuals are still included in the proceedings of the State Bureau of Investigation, but none of them has been under suspicion.
In addition, several prosecutors refused to undergo a re-medical examination, and some of the cases were transferred to the Qualification and Disciplinary Commission of Prosecutors for consideration. Some of them received disability pensions, while others did not.
Kravchenko emphasized that upon taking office, he discovered complete chaos in this matter.
“Nobody has finished the case. In nine months of work in the Prosecutor General’s Office, nothing has been done. I will not continue this story of chaos. Therefore, I have transferred the cases to the KDKP. Together with the internal inspection, we will find out all the details. If the KDKP recommends dismissal, I will carry it out. I do not plan to cover anyone up,” he noted.
According to the Prosecutor General, currently 636 prosecutors have been confirmed to have real disability, while the situation with more than 300 people remains uncertain.
He also added that 46 prosecutors have already decided to leave of their own free will.
The business community called on the government to avoid political pressure on the NABU and the SAPO. The USPP criticized the amendments to the legislation adopted by the parliament due to threats to the anti-corruption system.
