A Kyiv hospital purchased the latest smartphone worth over 62,000 hryvnias
The municipal non-profit enterprise “Kyiv City Center of Nephrology and Dialysis” acquired a new iPhone 16 Pro Max smartphone, spending 62,201 hryvnia on it. This device, equipped with 256 gigabytes of memory and made in the Natural Titanium color, is one of the representatives of the new line of Apple smartphones that recently appeared on the market. According to available information, the hospital purchased the gadget at the market price without significant overpayments.
The purchase was made within the framework of a pre-threshold procedure, which does not involve the use of the Prozorro electronic system, since the cost of the goods does not exceed the limit for mandatory tenders. Financing was provided from the state budget.
However, there is currently no clear explanation of how the new flagship smartphone will improve medical services or the activities of the institution. In the medical field, a shortage of basic equipment is often recorded, which raises questions about the feasibility of such expenses.
The institution is headed by Eduard Krasiuk, who, as of the time of publication, had not commented on the purchase and its purpose. In general, the situation with the purchase of an expensive smartphone with budget funds once again raises the question of the effectiveness of spending in the healthcare sector, especially in conditions of war and chronic lack of funding for this sector.
