Сирський майже не спить, але здатен легко віджатися сто разів підряд

Syrsky hardly sleeps, but can easily squeeze out a hundred times in a row

The commander of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, Oleksandr Syrsky, gave an interview to The Washington Post, in which he spoke about the details of the war and personal challenges.

Journalists note that despite the constant lack of sleep — the general “rarely, if ever, sleeps” — he does 100 push-ups every day without a break.

Syrsky emphasizes that the Ukrainian army consists of “highly motivated and courageous soldiers” ready for action. However, to achieve success, they need modern and reliable means of protection. The military command constantly appeals to international partners with a request to supply such assistance.

Discussing the counteroffensive in the direction of Russian Kurshchyna, the general tentatively said, “Last summer, we were harshly criticized for our defense and retreat. I had to take some extraordinary measures.”

Although specifics were not provided, it can be assumed that this refers to risky decisions in conditions of limited resources.

The general also noted that Ukraine finds it challenging to compete with Russia, which has greater resources and “significant financial incentives” for recruitment. However, the Ukrainian Defense Forces compensate for this difference with determination and experience gained during the years of war.
