Putin did not pay attention to Trump’s ultimatum

Volodymyr Putin did not take seriously the last ultimatum from US President Donald Trump, who urged reaching a truce agreement in Ukraine for 10-12 days, threatening new sanctions for Russia.

According to the publication, the Kremlin is accustomed to such statements by Trump, which are rarely accompanied by actions. Thus, in March, Trump expressed his anger about Putin, in April called for an immediate ceasefire, and in May warned of sanctions – but none of these threats were realized.

Bennett notes that the Kremlin has a feeling of deja vu: many unnecessary words, but no results.

Sky News also emphasizes that Putin usually reacts negatively to pressure and ultimatums, considering them as attempts to push them to escalation. Following such statements from the US, Moscow increases its rhetoric and again claims its intention to achieve its goals.

Earlier, Donald Trump expressed his indignation over Putin’s actions and noted that the timing of the ultimatum on the ceasefire had been reduced to 10-12 days from the previously stated 50. On July 28, at a press conference with the Prime Minister of Great Britain, Trump announced another attempt to achieve the agreement.

Trump also shared his phone number with world leaders, urging them to bypass traditional diplomatic formalities and contact him directly.
