Deadline until December 31: Pensioners are asked to take steps to preserve their pensions

In 2025, elderly Ukrainians who were forced to leave the country due to the war will be able to continue receiving pensions without returning to Ukraine. The Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine published this information.

The process has become more convenient, but the prescribed conditions must be observed; otherwise, payments may be suspended. Previously, pensions abroad were paid mainly through Oschadbank. Now, money can be transferred to the account of any Ukrainian bank or through international transfers with Ukrposhta.

The main requirement is annual identification by December 31. If a person does not confirm their identity within the established timeframe, the Pension Fund reserves the right to suspend payments temporarily. This is done to provide protection against fraud and verify the right to receive a pension.

Identification can be carried out:

through the web portal of the Pension Fund of Ukraine using a qualified electronic signature (QES);

Using a video call with a representative of the Pension Fund.

Those who left their employment before retirement should be aware that it is possible to apply for a pension remotely through the electronic portal of the Pension Fund of Ukraine. To do this, you need to log in to the website, complete an online application, attach scanned documents, and submit it for consideration. International agreements with other countries are not required in this case, since payments are made in accordance with Ukrainian legislation.

Earlier, the possibility of introducing a second pension was discussed, which would enable some individuals to receive a higher income in their later years. Additionally, information about the difficulties that Ukrainians face due to low salaries, which affects the level of pension payments, is relevant.
