China is ready to participate in a peacekeeping mission in Ukraine under the auspices of the UN

China has announced its readiness to become part of an international peacekeeping mission in Ukraine, but only on condition that such an operation receives a mandate from the United Nations. This is reported by the German publication, citing sources in EU diplomatic circles.

This initiative has caused a mixed reaction in Brussels. Some diplomats express concern that China’s participation may serve to collect strategic information in Ukraine. The EU believes that in the future, China may take a side that is beneficial to Russia.

On the other hand, some European officials believe that the participation of countries of the “global South”, such as China, can add legitimacy to the peace process at the international level. This can increase pressure on the aggressor and contribute to the achievement of a peace agreement.

Additionally, China’s integration into peacekeeping efforts can accelerate the deployment of international forces responsible for monitoring compliance with the terms of the peace agreement. Beijing’s participation can attract new participants to the regional security discussion.

The UN’s official position on this initiative is currently unknown, and China has not provided detailed information about its potential role in this mission.
