Winter survival: when will the heating tariffs be recalculated?

Summer days are fading, and Ukraine is beginning to prepare for the new heating season. As the season approaches, one of the key concerns for citizens is a potential increase in heating prices and its impact on the financial capabilities of families.

The National Bank predicts an increase in the cost of utilities, including heating. However, significant changes in tariffs are likely to occur no earlier than 2026, when the transition to market prices is expected to take place.

Currently, Ukraine has a moratorium on increasing tariffs for gas, heat, and hot water. This moratorium will remain in effect for the duration of the war and for another three years after its end.

Heat tariffs in different cities

The price of centralized heating varies depending on the supplier and region. Today, the cost in large cities looks like this:

Kyiv – 1,654.41 UAH per Gcal;
Kharkiv – 1,539.5 UAH per Gcal;
Lviv – 1,539.5 UAH per Gcal;
Dnipro – 1,741.32 UAH per Gcal;
Odesa – 1,813 UAH per Gcal;
Zaporizhia – 1,655.08 UAH per Gcal.
For households using electric heating, a reduced tariff applies – 2.64 UAH per kWh for consumption up to 2,000 kW. In case the limit is exceeded, the price increases to 4.32 UAH.

The cost of gas for household needs is currently 7.96 UAH per cubic meter. Naftogaz guarantees this tariff for 98% of households.
