Travel prices in Kyiv will increase due to the withdrawal of 8 billion UAH from the capital’s budget by the central government, – People’s Deputy

This became known from the message of the People’s Deputy Oleksiy Honcharenko on Telegram.

The price of public transport in Kyiv will increase because UAH 8 billion was withdrawn from the capital’s budget to pay bonuses to officials. The document of the Finance Department of the Kyiv City State Administration indicates that these funds were to be directed to transport, roads, schools, and hospitals. According to Honcharenko, this money was “stolen” from the residents of Kyiv, as a result of which the city will not be able to maintain the old fares.

The People’s Deputy emphasized that Kyiv has consistently had the lowest fares for public transport in Ukraine; however, due to the actions of the central government, the fares are set to increase several times.

“The officials’ luxury expenses do not even cover the budget of Kyiv. As of today, travel costs 8 UAH per trip, and for regular passengers, it costs 6.50 UAH. Other cities can compare prices. But now, due to the increase in bonuses for officials, the cost of travel in the capital’s transport will increase several times,” he noted.

We will remind that on August 20, the Verkhovna Rada adopted amendments to the state budget that provide for this deduction.
