A man stabbed a teenager in a schoolyard in Transcarpathia – the court ruled on punishment

The trial of a man who attacked a teenager for listening to Russian music has ended in the Zakarpattia region. The incident, which occurred last summer on school grounds, resulted in the assignment of community service and payment of compensation.

The Irshava District Court of the Zakarpattia region reported this.

According to the case materials, the incident occurred in July, at approximately 7:00 p.m. The man heard Russian music playing loudly in the schoolyard. After 10:00 p.m., since the music did not stop, he decided to ride his bicycle to the scene of the incident.

On the way, he came across the school principal, but he refused to take any action. A group of young people gathered near the educational institution, to whom the man approached to remark. According to the accused, the victim fell by himself, and he did not hit him.

Instead, the minor gave a different version of events: he said he was sitting in the yard with friends when a man approached them, aggressively cursing and pushing everyone. The boy claimed that the attacker was under the influence of alcohol, hit him in the chest, and tried to take away and damage the music speaker. A medical examination confirmed the presence of minor injuries, and after the incident, the teenager began to visit a psychologist with his parents.

The Irshava District Court found the man guilty and ordered him to perform 200 hours of community service, as well as to pay the victim 10,000 hryvnia in compensation for moral damage. The verdict can be appealed.
