Ukrainians deported from Russia are urgently sent to the CCC

After the June deportations of Ukrainians from Russia to the Georgian border, some of them have returned and are currently in the territorial recruitment center in Odessa. This is about 40 men.

According to human rights activists, all 65 citizens who were returned from the buffer zone on the border with Georgia, including 10 women, were initially placed in a hospital for medical examination. After that, the men were centrally transported to the CCC.

Some of them have already been allowed to return home, especially those who have serious medical problems or are parents of several children. However, the majority are still in the center. Lawyers note that they were informed that this is just a “formality”: they need to get documents, be removed from the wanted list, and register.

Human rights activists emphasize that, according to the law, after returning from abroad, citizens have a week to renew their documents and register for military service. However, this time the procedure took place almost instantly — just two days after crossing the border, which caused concern among relatives. Many of them still do not know when their loved ones will be able to return home.

Lawyers add that the legal status of the situation has many “gray areas”. On the one hand, the CCC is obliged to register men, even if they do not have documents. On the other hand, it is difficult to do this without a passport or military ID. Therefore, uncertainty remains about the status of most of these people.

At the moment, there has been no official comment from the regional CCC. Families are waiting for information and trying to find out whether these are really just “formalities” or whether the men are being further recruited into the service.
