The Rada is discussing a radical revision of pensions, but not for everyone

The deputies of the Verkhovna Rada recognize that the current social standards do not correspond to the real life of Ukrainians. One of the main tasks of the people’s deputies is to increase the minimum pension and revise the subsistence minimum.

According to Danylo Getmantsev, the head of the Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy, in an interview with a media outlet, the need for changes in this area is emphasized.

In 2025, the established subsistence minimum for non-disabled persons will be 3,028 UAH. However, Getmantsev notes that it is impossible to provide even the most necessary for these funds, because the prices for products and services are constantly growing.

“The minimum pension needs to be increased twofold. This is a matter not only of survival, but also of economic development,” he noted.

Hetmantsev also touched on the issue of “clan” pensions, noting that the parliament has been blocking the adoption of a bill for a long time, which should establish uniform rules for recalculating pensions for prosecutors and abolish preferential conditions for specific categories.

As the deputy emphasized, the adoption of this law could be the first step towards creating a fairer pension system. However, active resistance from certain interest groups is being recorded, which complicates the solution to this problem.

It is also known that the Pension Fund of Ukraine has begun a new phase of financing pension payments, which has aroused interest among many citizens. Information about who will be credited with additional amounts and through what mechanisms pension payments will be increased remains a relevant topic among the population.
