Poachers will suffer financial losses: the court ordered the company to pay the state 15.7 million hryvnias for labradorite
The company, which operated without the necessary permits, is obliged to compensate the state for approximately 15.7 million hryvnias. This decision was the result of the work of the environmental inspection and the prosecutor’s office.
Illegal mining: harm to nature and the state
On September 17, 2025, the Commercial Court of Zhytomyr Region satisfied the appeal of the Korostyshiv District Prosecutor’s Office in the interests of the state, ruling that Galaktik LLC must pay almost 15.7 million hryvnias for damage caused by illegal mining of labradorite. Violations were recorded in 2018 and 2019.
The Head of the State Environmental Inspection of the Polissya District, Yevhen Medvedovsky, noted that this decision is of great importance.
“The positive outcome of the trial indicates the inevitability of liability for environmental crimes. Illegal mining causes enormous losses to the state and destroys natural landscapes, which threatens the restoration of ecosystems,” he emphasized.
Business Responsibility and the Critical Importance of Interaction
According to Medvedovsky, this court decision once again confirms that the use of subsoil is possible only with special licenses. Ignoring these norms is a serious offense.
The Environmental Inspectorate expressed gratitude to the prosecutor’s office for the joint work that helped bring the case to its logical conclusion. This decision should be a clear signal to businesses: laws must be followed, and the country’s natural resources should be used responsibly.
