Queues, shortages and record prices: AI-95 gasoline is disappearing in Moscow and the Moscow region

The fuel crisis that began in the Far East and Siberia as a result of Ukrainian drone attacks on oil refineries has now also spread to Moscow and the Leningrad region.

According to information, the Russian capital and surrounding areas are particularly affected by the shortage of AI-95 gasoline. At many gas stations, the sale is limited to 10-20 liters per driver, and in some places, only diesel is available. This has caused queues to form, and gasoline prices have skyrocketed to record levels.

The situation in the Moscow region also remains difficult: supply problems and increased demand have led to a lack of AI-95 at stations. Local businessmen and residents report a ban on the sale of fuel in cans, which only increases tensions.

The situation in the Leningrad region is no better. One of the principal seaports for export, Ust-Luga, is operating at only half its capacity due to damage. The attacks on the Kirish oil refinery also caused significant damage, leading to major disruptions in the supply of gasoline and diesel.

Since the beginning of 2025, Ukrainian drones have been actively targeting Russian oil refineries, which has led to regular attacks on them. News of new strikes comes almost daily, and some plants are attacked several times a month, significantly reducing gasoline production.

In addition to external factors, internal problems are also being added: high credit rates make it economically unprofitable for private gas stations to build up reserves, and production cannot meet domestic needs in time. As a result, the market is faced with a classic shortage: supply does not meet demand, which leads to rising prices.

Among other regions that have also been affected by the fuel crisis in the country are Nizhny Novgorod, Rostov, Ryazan, Saratov, Amur, Magadan, Sakhalin regions, the Jewish Autonomous Region, Khabarovsk Krai, Yakutia, Chukotka, and occupied Crimea.
