Traitor from Kherson region sentenced to 15 years in prison for collaborating with the occupiers

A former warrant officer of the internal service, who collaborated with the invaders and assisted the occupation administration, was sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.

The State Bureau of Investigation published this information.

The Khadzhibeysky District Court of Odessa has issued a verdict in a high treason case. The man, who previously worked in the “Northern Correctional Colony No. 90”, remained in the occupied territory after the outbreak of hostilities and voluntarily agreed to cooperate with the Russian occupation administration.

SBI investigators established that he took a position in an illegal penitentiary institution created by the Russians based on this colony. The institution operated under the auspices of the aggressor country, and new employees were forced to swear an oath of allegiance to the Russian Federation to secure a job.

During the occupation, the former colony became an instrument of repression: residents were detained on the streets, thrown behind bars on trumped-up charges, and forced to do hard labor for the needs of the occupation troops, in particular to build fortifications, under the threat of physical punishment.

After the liberation of Kherson, law enforcement agencies exposed the collaborator and detained him. The court found him guilty of high treason under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sentence provides for 15 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office carried out procedural supervision in this case.

At the same time, according to the State Bureau of Investigation, a pre-trial investigation into the former head of the military medical commission of the Chernivtsi Regional Mobilization Center and his accomplice, who took bribes for forging documents on unfitness for service, has been completed. The indictment has already been submitted to the court.
