Expert assures: winter blackouts do not threaten energy apocalypse

Russian attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure, especially the energy sector, continue, raising concerns about the future supply of electricity and heat. Many people are concerned about the possibility of long-term power outages and other difficulties.

Oleg Pendzin, executive director of the Economic Discussion Club, expressed more optimistic views on the program “Topic with Moseychuk”. He noted that Ukrainians should not worry too much and prepare for the worst-case scenario.

“I don’t want to paint a picture of a big apocalypse. I don’t think it will be tough for us, as it wasn’t during the 2023 blackout. The reason is that Ukrainians adapt quickly. Many people have backup power sources, adapters, generators, and batteries,” he explained.

According to Pendzin, the probability that Ukrainians will be left without communication and electricity is very low. He also emphasized that the national business has considerable experience in overcoming such difficulties. “Businesses have long been able to find alternative power sources, such as gasoline generators. Nothing unexpected is expected. I am optimistic that we will get through this winter calmly,” the expert concluded.
