Students are shocked by the lyceum’s rules regarding toilet paper
Igor Likarchuk, former director of the Ukrainian Center for Education Quality Assessment and an education expert, spoke about an unusual situation that has developed in one of the Kyiv lyceums. Students have to ask the teacher for toilet paper before visiting the restroom.
On the social network Facebook, Likarchuk noted that numerous parents are outraged by this state of affairs and demand the dismissal of the director, who has distinguished herself with many years of work. However, local authorities insist that she should remain in her position until she reaches retirement age.
This educational institution is not only one of the best in the Kyiv region, but it also received appropriate recognition in 2020.
Likarchuk wrote: “I recently received a message with the question: ‘In our school, if a student wants to go to the toilet, he must ask the teacher for a piece of toilet paper. What kind of privacy is this?’ I don’t even know how to answer such a question. I only know that it concerns the Kyiv region. Parents are demanding the dismissal of the director, but the authorities believe that she should work until retirement.”
He added with humor that the educational institution should introduce a toilet paper issuance journal to find out how much is issued and to whom: “Maybe we should even issue an order on the results of the toilet paper accounting. Is this funny? Yes! But this is the style of work of some managers.”
Commentators subscribed to Likarchuk’s thoughts, expressing their indignation. One user noted that “we can break even the bottom with some other insanity.” Another added: “It’s sad to learn about this.” Several people advised parents to give their children wet wipes so as not to humiliate them for illegally issuing toilet paper.
Let’s recall that earlier there were discussions about autumn holidays and news of school closures due to disease outbreaks.
