The expert explained the situation with electricity supply: which regions are at increased risk

Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy facilities continue. The electricity supply situation in regions such as Kyiv, Chernihiv, Kharkiv, and Odesa remains complicated due to shortcomings in the energy infrastructure.

Energy expert Yuriy Korolchuk, speaking on the KYIV24 channel, noted that these regions are experiencing a significant deficit in electricity generation and insufficient capacity on power transmission lines. This means that even the most minor failures can cause serious problems in the system.

“They simply do not have enough internal capacity for electricity generation, as well as power transmission lines. If even one of these links fails, the entire system immediately begins to fail,” the expert emphasized.

He believes that restoring a stable electricity supply may take a significant amount of time, and outage schedules will persist for an extended period even after the restoration of the general infrastructure.

Kyiv, in turn, remains vulnerable. Korolchuk notes that despite the significant efforts to reconstruct and adjust the system in previous years, the capacity shortage remains a pressing issue.
