Kilometer-long queues at gas stations: most regions of the Russian Federation face fuel shortages

Russia is experiencing a severe fuel crisis — gasoline and diesel are disappearing from gas stations in most regions. Currently, fuel shortages have reached 84% of the Russian Federation, up from 79.5% previously.

Analyst Stanimir Dobrev, who tracks fuel shortages, notes that four more regions have joined the list — the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, Tyva, Udmurtia, and Kurgan Oblast.

According to Russian media, in many cities, people are forced to stand in kilometer-long queues at gas stations, trying to get a seat long before they open. Some gas stations have imposed limits on fuel supply, and others have temporarily suspended operations due to a lack of fuel.

Experts explain the shortage by attacks by Ukrainian drones on Russian oil refineries, as a result of which a significant part of the production capacity has failed. This has led not only to a decrease in fuel volumes but also to a rapid increase in prices for gasoline and diesel.

Analysts note that the most critical situation is in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, where fuel deliveries are being delayed by several weeks.

The Russian authorities are not currently commenting on the scale of the crisis. Still, experts emphasize that the deficit continues to grow, which may lead to serious problems in transport and logistics in several regions of the country.
