The fund director and intermediaries sold cars imported as humanitarian aid

In Transcarpathia, law enforcement officers uncovered an illegal scheme for selling cars imported under the guise of humanitarian aid. The director of the “Diplomatic Corps” charitable foundation, Yosyp Darvai, together with Ivan Chup and other intermediaries, organized the duty-free import of cars from Europe and their subsequent sale at the “Avtoyarmarkok” car market in the village of Kinchesh in the Uzhhorod district.

According to information provided by journalist Vitaliy Glaholya in the Telegram channel, the discovered facts indicate that since 2024 the foundation has registered 46 shipments, most of which were cars. After crossing the border, these vehicles were not transferred to volunteers or military personnel, but were used for sale on the market. The director of the car market, Sapronov, offered the cars as goods for purchase after registering with the foundation.

As part of the investigation, a controlled purchase was conducted, during which the defendants sold a Fiat Ducato for $5,000, while the real cost of a similar car cleared through customs on the market is about 120,000 hryvnias. The sale of five other cars (“Nissan X-Trail”, “Terrano”, “Navara”, “Mazda B2500”, “Opel Movano”) was also recorded, which were also imported as humanitarian aid.

During the searches that took place in Vynohradiv, Korytnyany, Mizhlisne and at the fund’s office, law enforcement officers seized documentation for 34 cars, seals, draft records, electronic media and cash in various currencies.

Yosyp Darvai has already been charged under Part 3 of Article 201-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal actions with humanitarian aid), and a motion to impose a preventive measure is currently being prepared. Ivan Chup was previously charged with a similar charge.

It is also known that employees of the State Bureau of Investigation have completed a pre-trial investigation into the deputy commander of the psychological support battalion of one of the military units in Transcarpathia, who organized a system of extorting money from servicemen.
