Batkivshchyna MP Anastasia Orlova turns out to be a citizen of Russia and Kazakhstan
Journalists conducted an investigation revealing that Anastasia Orlova, a deputy of the Obukhiv district council of the Kyiv region from Yulia Tymoshenko’s party, is a former citizen of Russia and Kazakhstan.
According to the data obtained, in 2003, Orlova applied for a Ukrainian passport. However, information from the State Migration Service of the Sumy region indicates that her passport was not issued.
The deputy changed her name several times, probably to hide her origins. The Security Service of Ukraine identified her as Smorkalova, born in 1977 in the military town of Georgiyevka-4 in Zharminsky district, and a citizen of the Russian Federation and Kazakhstan.
In October 2013, she again applied to the Sumy region to obtain a Ukrainian passport, stating that the Konotop district department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs issued the document. According to the Ministry’s official response, a passport was not issued to the citizen of Russia and Kazakhstan, Anastasia Yurievna Smorkalova. Moreover, there is no information in the presidential decrees about Orlova’s renunciation of citizenship in these countries.
Thus, a person with a Russian passport continues to hold the position of deputy from the Batkivshchyna party in the Obukhiv district of the Kyiv region, having the powers of local self-government.
In addition to her deputy activities, Orlova is also involved in the fuel business in Ukraine. It is known that, through the company “Sofia Oil”, which she controls, she is engaged in the sale of petroleum products without the necessary license.
It is worth noting that in Ukraine, the National Security and Defense Council has issued decisions prohibiting companies associated with Russian citizens or capital from engaging in any activities. Thus, any company cooperating with LLC “Sofia Oil” may face sanctions and inspections by regulatory authorities.
