Double-decker bus in Kyiv: where and when you can ride it

For the first time, Kyiv residents will have the opportunity to ride a double-decker bus, which can usually be found only in London and other major European cities.

The municipal enterprise “Kyivpastrans” announced the start of test flights of a double-decker city bus, MAN A39. This is a unique event for this city, as such a bus is running on the route for the first time in the history of the metropolitan transport system. Kyiv received this equipment as a gift from its sister city, Berlin.

The bus will operate only on weekends on route No. 57, allowing specialists to assess its ability to manage daily under the conditions of Kyiv roads and the volume of passengers.

The new bus has a capacity of 128 passengers: 83 seated (28 on the lower level and 55 on the upper level) and 45 standing on the first floor. The bus also meets barrier-free conditions: a low floor, two designated spaces for people in wheelchairs, a stroller zone, and two ramps.

According to the schedule, the bus runs from 9:43 to 18:53 from the metro station “Akademmistechko” to the stop “Avtorynok Chapayevka”.

“Kyivpastrans” notes that the test use of buses will help determine how to use them in the city permanently.

In addition, as reported by the Department of Transport Infrastructure of the Kyiv City State Administration, a new order of public transport movement across the Podilskyi Bridge, which connects the right and left banks of the Dnieper, is being introduced in the capital.
