Gas for 7.42 or 7.96 UAH: what prices will await us before the end of the heating season

Recently, information has surfaced in Ukraine that the government has allegedly fixed the gas price at UAH 7.42 per cubic meter until the end of March. However, this information has led to misunderstandings among some consumers, as households still pay UAH 7.96 per cubic meter, according to the resource “GazPravda”.

Experts note that the figure of UAH 7.42 applies only to the supply of gas to heat producers, who purchase fuel at this price under the mechanism for imposing special obligations. This gas is used to generate heat, which consumers pay for in their heating bills.

At the same time, annual tariffs for household consumers remain unchanged at least until April 2026. The largest supplier, Naftogaz of Ukraine, will continue to supply gas at a fixed price of UAH 7.96 per cubic meter.

Changes in tariffs have affected energy-generating companies. The new prices for them are as follows:

– For combined heat and power plants (CHP) – 21,000 UAH per 1,000 cubic meters (previously 18,000 UAH);

– For thermal power plants (CHP) – 16,000 UAH per 1,000 cubic meters (instead of 14,000 UAH);

– For gas turbine and gas piston plants that produce electricity in a combined way – 21,000 UAH per 1,000 cubic meters.

According to current legislation, the moratorium on increases in gas prices for the population remains in force until the end of martial law and for six months thereafter. The continuation of government measures to impose special duties is a technical procedure aimed at maintaining tariff stability.
