Lawyer warns against unjustified fines from the CCC: ways to protect yourself

Conscripts are increasingly being fined and added to the wanted list for failing to complete military service. However, lawyer Roman Simutin emphasizes that in most cases, there are no legal grounds for such actions by the CCC.

The human rights activist emphasized that under current legislation, a person cannot be fined if they have not received summonses to perform military service and do not have the status of a person with limited fitness. Thus, sanctions and wanted lists in such cases are legally unfounded.

Roman Simutin noted that the notification that a person “did not pass the military service” is caused by technical malfunctions in the “Reserve+” system. The algorithm works so that persons without completed military service and with the status of a person with limited fitness are automatically considered violators of military registration. However, this does not account for exceptions for people with a reservation or official deferment, including persons with disabilities who are not required to serve in the military. As a result, individuals who have not committed any offenses are being sought.

The lawyer emphasized that if the CCC does not respond to appeals regarding errors in the system, groundless fines, and announcements, citizens have the right to appeal such actions in court to protect their rights.
