Ukrainians risk losing their shares forever: final date announced

Ukrainian citizens may risk losing their land shares if they do not register their ownership rights within the established period. These are plots allocated during the unbundling process, but that have not yet undergone privatization. Lawyer Anastasia Blyndu noted this.

Previously, the land was used collectively by agricultural enterprises, and each shareholder was assigned a share of the land. However, to complete the privatization process, it was necessary to allocate a plot in kind and undergo state registration.

Many people did not have time to complete this procedure, and now their plots may be lost. Initially, ownership rights had to be registered by January 1, 2025, but due to the full-scale war, the deadline was extended by another 3 years. The final deadline is currently January 1, 2028.

The lawyer explained that if a person does not submit an application for their rights by the specified date, they will lose the land plot.

After the expiration of the term, such shares:

– will receive the status of ownerless,

– will be transferred to the communal property of the territorial communities where they are located,

– The owner will permanently lose the right to the plot.

In some cases, an extension of the registration period is possible, but only if there are good reasons, such as serious illness, occupation of the territory, or lack of access to the necessary documents. In other situations, the land will be lost.
