Major inspections have started in Ukrainian schools: what to expect

A new stage of inspections of educational institutions for compliance with fire and technogenic safety requirements has begun in Ukraine. This became possible after the government adopted a corresponding decision, as reported by the Educational Ombudsman Service.

The organization noted that changes have been made to the resolution “On the suspension of state supervision (control) measures during martial law.” Now, control over compliance with fire safety standards in educational institutions will be carried out upon the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ request or in response to appeals from regional administrations during military operations.

The Educational Ombudsman Service emphasized that ensuring safety in the educational sector remains essential, especially when generators provide heating and power.

The Cabinet of Ministers approved changes to the mechanism for providing subventions to ensure fire safety in educational institutions, allocating 500 million hryvnias for these needs in 2025.

These funds will be used to implement modern fire protection systems, signaling systems, lightning protection equipment, smoke removal systems, and to purchase fire extinguishing equipment. The changes to the procedure expand the range of institutions eligible to receive funding.

Education Minister Oksen Lisovyi noted that the subsidy can now be received not only by military and sports lyceums, but also by educational and rehabilitation centers, special schools, and institutions with more than 200 students (excluding branches).
