Sofia Rotaru wants to speak out, but can’t: what’s holding her back?

Sofia Rotaru continues to remain silent about the war. However, as TV presenter Alexei Sukhanov explained, there is an essential reason for this: the singer wants to express her position, but at the moment, circumstances do not allow her to do so.

Sukhanov shared his desire to speak with Rotaru, emphasizing that the artist intends to make a public statement in the future, but certain factors are holding her back. The TV presenter mentioned this in his program “IPsO and People”, emphasizing that there is a specific reason behind this silence.

“I really want to record an interview with Sofia Mikhailovna. She refuses, wants to speak out, but a circumstance prevents her from doing so. Her silence is due to certain reasons,” Sukhanov said.

The journalist also added that he has no right to disclose the details.

“I am not authorized to voice the details, but I am sure that her silence is not a manifestation of indifference,” the TV presenter emphasized.

Since the full-scale conflict began on February 24, 2022, Rotaru has not made any public statements. At the same time, she has reacted to missile attacks and other key events affecting the country.

According to the artist’s sister, Aurika, Sofia Mykhailivna has recently been in Kyiv. “She is experiencing, like all Ukrainians. I can say that she is in Kyiv, everything is fine,” the relative noted.

On her 78th birthday, Rotaru shared photos from the capital and later visited her native village of Marshyntsi in Bukovina.

It was previously mentioned that during a concert in Zurich, Verka Serdyuchka shared a childhood memory with the audience, showed an archival photo, and expressed her wish for the war to end as soon as possible.
