Son of businessman from Chernivtsi suspected of murder

A new person has appeared in the investigation into the murder of 21-year-old Danylo Kuzmin, the son of the deputy mayor of Kharkiv. According to the “Informant” telegram channel, 19-year-old Bohdan Ryzhuk was detained in Odessa.

It is known that the young man had lived in Austria since 2022, where he studied in Vienna alongside Kuzmin. He recently returned to Ukraine through Hungary, after which law enforcement officers detained him.

The investigation believes that Ryzhuk could have acted as a gunner and accomplice in the crime.

Bohdan’s father, Ivan Ryzhuk, is a well-known Chernivtsi businessman known as a “market king. His stepmother, Olesya Ilashchuk, is currently Ukraine’s ambassador to Bulgaria.

According to “Informant, an analysis of their personal and business ties is currently underway.

After Ilashchuk was appointed ambassador, she was criticized in the media. It is known that from 2010 to 2015 she headed the company “Gemma”, owned by Ryzhuk, which traded in precious stones.

In 2011, Ivan Ryzhuk was suspected of bribery totaling 250 thousand dollars and of illegal enrichment totaling billions of hryvnias. Then, during a search of “Gemma”, 24 million hryvnias worth of precious stones were seized.

His name was also mentioned in connection with more than 30 companies operating in trade.

Investigators made ironic remarks that if these funds had been allocated to the budget, Chernivtsi would have looked no worse than the Louvre Museum.

The investigation is ongoing, and the case involves diamonds, cryptocurrency, and high-level positions, giving it the hallmarks of an expensive thriller.
