The military announced its readiness to mobilize women

The commander of the UAV platoon of the 54th brigade, Yulia Mykytenko, emphasized the readiness of Ukrainian women to serve in the army, sharing her thoughts in an interview with TSN.

She noted that she had previously seen a need to share women’s experiences of serving during the war. After publishing a post on social media sharing her recommendations, Mykytenko received a strong response from Ukrainian women who expressed their desire to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

“I shared advice on Facebook for those who want to serve in the army. These were specific recommendations, for example, about what equipment you need to have. Moral and physical preparation is obvious, but it is also important to know what to bring to the service,” she noted.

In Ukraine, women can voluntarily enlist in the military. In addition, certain professions, such as doctors and pharmacists, will be required to register for military service starting in October 2025. According to the law, women may choose positions in the Armed Forces of Ukraine at their discretion.

The registration of medical workers and pharmacists creates a reserve for the army, and is not a means of forced mobilization. Currently, no changes to the conscription of women are planned until the end of 2025.

Lawyers also emphasize that women who want to enter military service should complete basic military training and first-aid training. Also, when concluding a contract, they may refuse if a woman has three or more children, a child with disabilities or health problems, or for other valid reasons.
