How to get a refund in case of an erroneous payment for utility services
When paying for utility services, an error may occur, resulting in funds being deposited into the wrong account. However, under the right conditions, the situation can be corrected, as reported by the representatives of JSC “Oblteplokomunenergo” on their Facebook page.
Among the most common mistakes consumers make when paying are entering the wrong personal account number, choosing the wrong service provider, or paying for bad service. If you make a mistake, it can be corrected.
To transfer the payment to your personal account, apply to the service provider in any format and provide proof of payment (a check or bank statement), along with a copy of the payer’s passport and TIN. Documents can be submitted in person or sent by e-mail or regular mail to the enterprise.
If the funds were deposited into a third-party company’s account, there are two ways to resolve the issue. If an error occurred at the bank or post office, the financial institution that initiated the request sends it to the service provider.
If the consumer himself chose the wrong company, he needs to submit a refund application in any form, attach proof of payment, a copy of his passport, and his personal identification number, and specify the bank account details for the refund (the card number is not suitable).

Cases were also recorded in which citizens began receiving double utility payments due to strange charges. In addition, situations have arisen when Ukrainians are “hung” by debts for other people’s utility services, and many are interested in how to protect themselves from such schemes.
