In Poland, Ukrainians were warned about new conditions that could lead to the suspension of child benefits

Ukrainian citizens living in Poland and receiving the 800 Plus child benefit have been warned about new rules. According to ZUS, the extension of benefits is no longer automatic; you must reapply for each new billing period. The next period will run from June 1, 2026, to May 31, 2027.

ZUS emphasizes the importance of timely document submission. Applications for the new period will begin on February 1, 2026, and to avoid interruptions in payments, you must submit your application no later than May 31, 2026. In case of a delay in submission, funds may arrive late, and in some cases, the first month’s payment may not be made at all.

It is essential to adhere to the submission deadlines. If the application is submitted after June 30, 2026, the June payment will not be made, and the first payment will begin only from the month of actual document submission.

The 800 Plus program provides benefits to all children under 18 years of age, regardless of family income. However, there are additional requirements for Ukrainian citizens: the child must attend an educational institution in Poland, and their data must be entered into the SIO education system. Without meeting these conditions, the benefit will not be accrued.

Starting in February, ZUS will also verify parents’ official employment. The salary must be at least 50% of the minimum wage in Poland. The lack of official work may lead to the suspension of 800 Plus payments until this requirement is met.

You can apply for benefits exclusively electronically via the ZUS PUE portal, the mZUS mobile application, the Emp@tia platform, or using electronic banking. Paper applications under this program are not accepted.

ZUS emphasizes that compliance with deadlines and requirements is critical to continued receipt of benefits. Ukrainian families are advised to check the relevance of their data in advance and not delay applying to avoid losing financial support.
