The tax office controls sales on OLX: what incomes of Ukrainians will be under surveillance

The state intends to obtain information on the income of Ukrainians who sell through online platforms, including OLX. The initiative, unofficially dubbed the “OLX tax,” has been supported by companies that provide services to self-employed drivers and couriers.

OLX previously stated that the new rules could affect millions of people who sell used items for personal use, rather than doing business. In response, Ukraine is proposing to introduce a tax break: sales of up to 2,000 euros per year through digital platforms will not be taxed.

Uklon, Bolt, Uber, and Glovo services officially support draft laws Nos. 14025 and 14026. They emphasized that this initiative will ensure transparent, fair regulation of platform users’ income.

According to the document, the new rules will contribute to the unification of tax regulation in Ukraine, increase transparency in the economy, create equal conditions for competition, and strengthen trust between the state, business, and the population.

The draft laws provide that transactions with goods worth up to 2,000 euros per year will remain tax-free. Thus, household sales of personal belongings between Ukrainians will not be subject to taxation, and the new rules will apply only to those who receive income from commercial activities.
