The main reason for failure in driving tests: why Ukrainians often fail the practical part
In Ukraine, candidates for a driver’s license most often fail the practical exam due to a turn-signal error. According to the Main Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, this concerns the ambiguous or untimely activation of indicators.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, although future drivers usually know the theory and rules of the road well, they often prove inattentive during practical driving. Most often, instructors note that candidates forget to turn on their turn signals or turn them on late.
The service center emphasizes that violations of turn-signal requirements are assessed not merely as a formality. They can pose a threat to other road users and cause accidents. That is why inspectors pay special attention to this detail when testing drivers’ skills.
According to paragraph 9.2 of the Road Traffic Rules of Ukraine, drivers are required to give a turn signal in several situations: before starting to move, when changing lanes, and during a turn or U-turn. A turn signal activated in advance helps avoid dangerous situations by informing other road users of the driver’s intentions.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs also notes that the most errors occur when leaving a parking space, reversing, going around obstacles, changing lanes, passing intersections, and stopping the car. Most often, it is in these situations that candidates forget to signal or do so late.
As a reminder, drivers can be fined for failing to follow the rules.
