Lviv will join the Eurorail: connection with Warsaw and Vienna planned by 2030

Lviv is preparing for profound changes in its transport infrastructure. The city seeks to become an essential hub in the European railway network and implement a new urban transport system. The mayor, Andriy Sadovyi, announced the key plans.

By 2030, it is planned to connect Lviv’s central railway station to the European rail network. According to the mayor, the first stage of the project will begin in 2027, when Eurotrack reaches the Sknyliv station, and then continue to the central station.

In the future, Lviv may receive several international routes. By 2030, it is planned to create two directions to Warsaw – passenger and freight, as well as a separate line from Vienna to Sknyliv. An essential element of the project will be the connection of Sknyliv with the Lviv airport and further movement to the central station. In the future, Eurotrack is planned to continue toward Kyiv.

The next stage, according to the mayor, will be a narrow-gauge railway connecting the Baltic Sea with the Black Sea port of Constanta in Romania. This will be a significant step toward strengthening Lviv’s logistical role.

Andriy Sadovyi also noted the prospect of launching an electric train for the city. The euro-gauge would allow it to be integrated with city electric transport, thereby improving communication between the districts of Ryasne, Sykhiv, Davydiv, Dublyany, Sknyliv, and others. According to him, the implementation of this project will be a powerful stimulus for the economic development of Lviv and the increased mobility of residents.
